Tan Sri Abdul Farid has accumulated over 30 years of working experience in banking and financial services industry, particularly in the areas of investment banking, commercial banking and capital markets:

1. Officer-Assistant Manager, Aseambanker Malaysia Berhad (1992-1994).

2. Assistant Manager, Schroders Malaysia (L) Ltd. (1994-1995).

3. Senior Manager-Assistant General Manager, Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Berhad (1996-1997).

4. Vice President, JP Morgan Malaysia/Singapore (1997-2005).

5. Director of Investments, Khazanah Nasional Berhad (2005-2008).

6. Head of International Businesses of Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) in 2009; Deputy President & Head, Global Banking (formerly known as Global Wholesale Banking) and Head of International Business (2010-2013); Executive Director/Group President & Chief Executive Officer of Maybank (2 August 2013 until 30 April 2022); A member of Board of Commissioners (2013-2017) and subsequently President Commissioner of PT Bank Maybank Indonesia, Tbk (2017-2022); a Board member of Maybank companies included Maybank Singapore Limited (2018-2022), Maybank Investment Bank Berhad (2011-2017) and Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad (2013-2017).

7. Chair of the Association of Banks in Malaysia, Vice Chair of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers, and a member and subsequently a Co-Chair of the Emerging Markets Advisory Council for the Institute of International Finance based in Washington DC, USA (2013-2022).

He was also appointed to the Board of Bursa Malaysia Berhad on 8 July 2022 as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
